The Noah's Ark approach

Built to weather what the next thirty years bring.

A life vest doesn't stop the waves. It gives your family a chance to keep moving when one hits. That's what a plan does, too. It doesn't predict what's coming. It makes sure you can keep going when something does.

Peter Guggisberg, Founder

How working together actually goes

Three steps. No surprises. No pressure.

01

Schedule a free call

Thirty minutes by phone, video, or in person across the Hudson Valley. Peter walks through what's already in place and where you feel exposed.

02

Peter maps the plan

I review the gaps, model real numbers, and walk you through options without jargon. You see what each choice costs and protects.

03

Ongoing reviews

Life changes. Mortgages refi, kids head to college, jobs shift. Peter checks in on a cadence that fits your stage, not a calendar quota.

Meet your advisor

Hi, I'm Peter.

When it comes to my family, protecting what matters most is my highest priority. Before becoming a financial advisor, I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor.

I often think of what I do now in the same way: a life vest doesn't stop the waves from coming, but it gives you the security and confidence to move forward safely. That's exactly what the right plan can do for a family.

For more than ten years, I've helped Hudson Valley families build plans they actually understand. Term life. Whole life. Retirement. Estate. The pieces fit together, and you stay in the driver's seat.

Brand storyworld

Noah · our guide character

Why animals?

Pixar storytelling meets jargon-free financial advice.

Life insurance, retirement, and estate planning are serious topics. Most advisor websites lean into fear to get your attention. Peter doesn't.

Instead we built a story-world. A young shepherd named Noah (modeled on Peter's actual son) guides a cast of animal families through modern finance. At the center: the Buckley deer, the Sorrell foxes, and the Harlow bears. Around them, a rotating cast of cameos shows up across our blog and social content. They all landed in the Hudson Valley after the biblical flood and have been navigating financial systems designed for humans ever since.

The characters are pure brand. The plans Peter builds are one hundred percent real. Think of them as the cast of a story we tell across all our content: names you'll recognize, situations that echo your own, conversations that make serious topics feel a lot less stiff. The work itself doesn't get any less serious.

Meet the families

The Buckleys, Sorrells, and Harlows.

Three illustrated families at the center of our story-world. Their lives unfold across our blog, social, and brand content. The financial questions they bring up are the same ones real Hudson Valley families talk through with Peter every week. The families themselves live in our pages, not in our case files.

The brand purpose

Real plans, real strategies, real Hudson Valley families across the table from Peter every week. The characters on this page are pure brand. Their job is to make serious topics feel less intimidating without making them less serious.

Fine print

Every character in the Noah's Ark storyworld is AI-generated. No Social Security numbers, no W-2s, no fixed address in the Hudson Valley. Any resemblance to a living person, deer, fox, or bear is purely coincidental and, frankly, would be remarkable.

For NYC transplants, specifically

Just moved out of the city?

When you leave NYC for Carmel, Mahopac, Yorktown Heights, Mount Kisco, or anywhere else in the Hudson Valley, the financial plan you built around a Manhattan studio or Brooklyn one-bedroom doesn't fit anymore. Property tax shows up. Mortgage size jumps. Kid costs compound differently. A 401k you set up at a city employer is suddenly the asset most worth re-evaluating.

I help newer Hudson Valley families re-anchor: term life sized to the new mortgage, retirement plan calibrated to suburban cost structure, estate-tax orientation for anyone coming from a no-estate-tax state.

Mortgage-sized term life

Your old NYC group life or pre-house policy is almost certainly too small for the new mortgage.

401k from the city employer

Roll it, leave it, consolidate. Real fee comparison, no industry default.

NY estate tax orientation

If you came from NJ, FL, TX, or no-tax states, NY's estate tax cliff will surprise you.

Beneficiary audit

Pre-marriage, pre-kid, pre-move policies. Often outdated, easy to fix.

Common questions

The questions I get asked most.

How do I know what kind of life insurance I need for my Hudson Valley family?

It depends on your family, your debts, and your long-term goals. A common rule is 10 to 12 times your yearly income, but that's just a rough start. I look at your mortgage, your kids' college plans, and your spouse's income to find a number that makes sense for you.

Can you help with more than life insurance?

Yes. Life insurance is where we usually start, but I also help with retirement planning, 401k rollovers, estate planning, and investments. The goal is to create a full financial plan, not just one piece.

How much does life insurance cost for a family?

A healthy 30-year-old can often get $500,000 of term life coverage for around $30 to $40 a month. Whole life costs more up front but grows cash value. It all depends on your age, health, and how much coverage you want.

Do you work with families across the Hudson Valley, or just one town?

Across the Hudson Valley. I work in person from Putnam County (Carmel, Mahopac, Brewster, Cold Spring) and up through Beacon, Fishkill, and the river towns. Phone and video meetings happen with families anywhere in New York and the neighboring states.

Does Peter work alone, or is there a team?

I'm the advisor on every plan. When you reach out to Noah's Ark Financial, the conversation is with me directly, every time. No hand-offs to junior staff, no rotating contacts. That's the whole point.

What does the free first consultation actually cover?

It's a 30-minute conversation with no obligation. Peter walks through your current situation, where you feel exposed, and what a plan might look like. You leave with a clearer picture whether or not you end up working together.
